You can sign up on either website. The username and password you chose will work
on both websites. You will need to have mobile web access from your cell phone to
use www.howsthebar.mobi while at the bars.
Q. Why do I need to enter my cell phone number when registering?
This is only used if you wish to receive text notifications when your friend’s rate
bars and/or when someone rates one of your favorite bars.
Q. Will I receive unsolicited text messages?
No, the text feature is completely optional and you can enable or disable text updates
at anytime when you log into www.howsthebar.com
or www.howsthebar.mobi.
Q. What is Net Bar Hopping?
Net Bar Hopping allows you to “hop” to any bar using the web and receive live, up-to-the-minute
ratings on a bar’s crowd size, male to female ratio, average age, entertainment,

Q. How do I search for a bar?
You can type in the bar name, city, or zip code in the search box and click Search
Bars.
Q. Who is rating these bars anyway?
You are! How’s the Bar is a 100% user-based community. All the ratings are made
by users for users.
Q. What if I disagree with a rating?
Go to the Contact Us, give us the Username of that
member, and we will contact them. How’s the bar is a community of bar hoppers who
help each other decide which bars they may be interested in visiting. The only way to truly help each other is to give accurate ratings. If a member
chooses not to follow this request, we will remove them from the site.
Q. How do I know if my rating is accurate?
The ratings are based on each member’s opinion of the bar at that moment.
Your opinion can help others make better decisions on which bar to visit
next.
Q. What if I search for a bar and there are
no recent ratings?
Look for another bar. The volume of ratings is a direct result of membership. The
more members we have, the more ratings you can view.
Spread the word and tell your friends to join How’s the Bar.
Bar hopping will never be the same with the help of our website community.
Q. Which bars does this work for?
Eventually all of them! We already have over 10,000 bars listed in Chicagoland alone.

How can I get my friends to join howsthebar?
The easiest way is to import your contacts from your email or social networking
sites and send them an invitation. You can do this from the Friends Circle
on your Profile Edit page.
Q. Can I set my profile to private?
Yes, check the box next to “Private Profile” on the Edit Profile page. Other members will not be able to view your
profile, unless you add them to your
Friend Circle.
Q. Are my bar ratings anonymous?
Yes, only your username is listed next to your bar rating.
Only members in your Friends Circle have access to your username.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of friends
I can add to my Friends circle?
You can add as many friends as you wish. Use the import contacts option on the Friends
Circle page to make it quick and easy.
Q. How can I remove friends from my circle?
From your Profile Edit page, enter the
Friends Circle
page, and select the friend by checking the box next to their name.
From the dropdown, choose Remove Friend(s), and hit Apply.
Q.
How can I make new friends with howsthebar?
You can view the profiles and pictures of other users and send out friend requests. If they approve, you will join their Friends Circle. You can also create your own profile and
upload pictures into your albums.
Q. How do I upload photos to my Profile page?
After logging on, click on the Albums page and type in a New Album Name. Click on the Create button and then
click Upload Photos. Simply browse for a photo and click Upload. Once
a photo is uploaded, you can use the function box in the upper right corner of the
photo.
Q. How do I receive texts notifications when
my friend’s rate bars?
It’s simple. Once logged on to www.howsthebar.com,
go to Friends Circle , choose a friend in the Outer Circle,
select Move to inner friends from the dropdown options, and hit the Apply
button. As long as your mobile alerts are active, you will receive text notifications
whenever these friends rate a bar.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of bars I
can add to my favorite bars list?
You can add as many bars as you wish. Simply type in the bar name, city, or zip
code in the search box and click GO.

How do I
receive text notifications when my favorite bars are rated?
It’s simple. Search for bars and hit the Add to Favorites button. As long
as your mobile alerts are active, you will receive text notifications whenever your
favorite bars are rated.
Q. The text notification says “Friend Rating
or Favorite Bar Notification?” How do I know
which friend or favorite bar?
You have to log on to www.howsthebar.com
(from home) or www.howsthebar.mobi (from
your cell) to see which friend or bar.
Q. Do I need to have mobile web access on my
cell phone to rate bars?
Yes, you need to be able to access the mobile site (www.howsthebar.mobi) in order
to give and view bar ratings. Without mobile web access, you will still have access
to www.howsthebar.com from you desktop
or laptop. You can still meet people and view bar ratings from home.
Q. What if I have problems using the mobile
site with my cell phone?
We are still programming our site to work with all cell phones.
If you are having difficulty using the mobile site, please access the following
site address from your cell phone and complete the survey (www.howsthebar.mobi/mobisurvey.aspx). This information will help us fix the problem. Try to use mobile site from your cell
phone a few days later. If the problem continues, go to Contact Us.

Q. What if I’m not sure what bar to search for
to see the ratings?
You can click on Bar Ratings from home or cell phone and view
the most recent bar ratings from all bars. You can filter the results by location.
Q. How do I rate a bar on
www.howsthebar.mobi from my cell if I’m not at a bar?
After logging on to www.howsthebar.mobi
from your cell, select Not at a bar? link at the bottom of Please select a
bar to rate page. Simply complete
the Ideal Bar survey, hit submit, and start searching for bar ratings.
Q. What if I can’t find a bar I know of on the
site?
Hit the Add a New Bar button from the home page and tell us the name and
location. We will add that bar to our database.

Click on Contact Us and type your question or comment. We will do our best to respond in a timely fashion.
